Welcome to Worth Educating meet our founder Ben Oliver

'Ben has been delivering sessions in school for the past few years and is absolutely brilliant. He engages the students effectively and sessions are informative, interactive and inclusive. We have recently had sessions about consent, and the harmful effect that pornography can have on young people and their expectations of sex - student feedback of both was great and ensured that we will continue to have Ben back every year!' Claire McLeod, teacher and PSHE lead, Marden High school, North Tyneside

The pressures and expectations that young people face in 2023 are constant and complex, with five children in every UK classroom with a probable mental health disorder.

98% of adults prosecuted for sexual offences are male.

Young men need to challenge and be challenged by the culture and times they are living in, where violence against women, sexism and sexual harassment, misogyny and male entitlement are threatening to define a generation.

As a father of two young girls growing up in an ever changing world, I feel personally convicted to tackle these issues head on. A cultural shift is needed; I believe this begins by facilitating honest conversations about healthy relationships, problematic attitudes and the impact of our choices, both online and in the real world.

Boys and young men specifically, now more than ever, need guidance in the form of positive male role models, to help them discover their true meaning and identity. At Worth Educating, we aim to encourage and empower boys and young men to be emotionally healthy, and impact the world positively.

‘Nine out of 10 girls said being sent unwanted explicit images happened a lot or sometimes among their peers. Two-thirds said the same for unwanted touching.’
— Ofsted Report, 2021
‘One in 10 children had watched pornography by the time they were nine years old. Four out of five had seen porn involving violence by age 18, while 1 in 3 young people had actively looked for depictions of sexual violence such as physical aggression, coercion and degradation.’
— Children’s Commissioner’s Report, Feb 2023
Young people want ‘more relevant examples’ (47%) ‘more open discussions’ (44%) and ‘more regular classes’ (42%)
